Amazon.com The fourth Pokémon feature follows the pattern set by the previous three--and falls into the same traps. The TV series depicts the modest adventures of Pokémon trainer Ash Ketcham and his friends Brock and Misty as they roam an imaginary world, fighting matches and making friends. The features add elaborate CG effects that don't mesh with the flat, drawn characters, and over-scaled threats that feel beyond Ash's abilities to resolve. Forty years ago, Sam, a young trainer, meets the 251st Pokémon Celebi (it looks like Tinkerbell with a goldfish for a head). To escape a mean hunter, Celebi brings Sam to the present day, where they meet Ash & Company. They also meet the evil Iron Mask Marauder who's supposed to be a member of Team Rocket, but who's much nastier than the comically inept Jessie, James, and Meowth. The Marauder corrupts Celebi with a "dark ball" and forces it to create a monster out of trees, branches, etc., that is blatantly copied from the Night Walker in Princess Mononoke. Ash and his friends eventually save the day, the Pokémon, and the forest--but it all feels like we've been there/done that. --Charles Solomon

The fourth film for the Pokemon franchise November 26, 2008 Lesley Aeschliman (Enumclaw, WA) Pokemon 4Ever clocks in at 79 minutes. It's just the right length for the story that's being told; it's doesn't feel like it's going too fast, but it also doesn't feel like it's dragging the story out unnecessarily. On this disc, the short that ran before the film at the theater is only included on the disc as a special feature, unlike the first three movies, where you were forced to watch the short before starting into the movie. The short included on this release is "Pikachu's PikaBoo." The next extra on the DVD is an audio commentary version of the film. This is followed by the "Pokemon 4Ever Trivia Game." For this extra, you use the remote to select the best answer to each of seven questions. The game appears to cycle through sets of questions, and the cycle goes in the same order each time you put the DVD into the player. If you get a question right, you see a clip of the film that is connected to the question. If you get a question wrong, you see Pikachu appear on the screen, with the wrong "WRONG" written underneath it. Next is an extra labeled, "Animation Progression," and there are four shots included: Forest Fly Through, Dust Storm, Battling a 3D Foe, and Climbing Ivy. You use the angle button on your remote to switch from stage to stage in each sequence. This particular feature was actually rather cumbersome. This DVD also included both the domestic trailer and the Japanese trailer for Pokemon 4Ever; however, there are no subtitles provided for the Japanese version. "A Sneak Peek at the Next Pokemon Movie" is the Japanese trailer for the fifth Pokemon film; again, there were no subtitles, so you couldn't understand anything that was being said. The lack of subtitles for the Japanese trailers makes it frustrating for the children watching this DVD, because they can't understand anything. There are also DVD-ROM features included. Overall, Pokemon 4Ever is a good film, and this DVD is actually one of the better DVD releases for the Pokemon films. There were actually some worthwhile special features included. If you're a Pokemon fan, you should really have this Pokemon film in your DVD collection.
Pokemon 4ever March 29, 2008 L. K. Dalke (Riverside, Ca) This was a great movie for the whole family. We all enjoyed it very much. The kids watch it over and over and still love it. I would definitly recommend to any family who is intrested in Pokemon.
Perhaps the Downfall January 23, 2008 Brandon Howarth (Allentown, PA) This is my official Pokemon movie review part 5 of 10. Pokemon 4ever was not the movie that it's predecessors had been. While I watched this I was thinking about it being a real long television episode. This is partially biased due to my dislike of cute legendary Pokemon. I think their plots really dwindle. Although Suicune is one of my favorites I think a little more air time with him would have been more exciting. I was thinking delving deeper into a connection between Suicune and Celebi.
Pokemon Rules December 24, 2006 Laura (Hawaii) I love Pokemon. The good guys always win and the bad guys always learn a lesson and often times help the good guys out, sometimes without even knowing it. Plus, anything that keeps my daughter entertained is wonderful. My daughter fell in love with Pokemon at 4 years old and is now 12 and still loves it. This movie has gotten alot of use in our household.
The whole Movies - I've Seen EM! June 27, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is about celebi captured by the iron masked maruder. when sam finds himself almost concius inside a twig monster, there goes it!and he just evolved a huge mtagross into bad monsters. how did celebi get caught?even it's so powerful,it can't be captured by a master ball. it's caught by a dark ball! Nothing is known about 'em. See? Look: Deatails: Type:?????? Ability??????? Strength??????? and then, the iron masked maruder is a part of team rocket! the boy half of team rocket is:james! he got knocked off a branch, with the other team rocket members, jessie and meowth. also fellow trainers, misty, ash, brock and pikachu got knocked off. and sam finds himself in a forest full of butterfree with stun spores! but will ash and sam stop the iron masked maruder? pikachu also has a hide - and - seek game in the bonus movie, but his whole crowd of pokemon playing are interupted by a huge mowing machine pushed by meowth.after that,he pushed along and falls into a chimney.but the mowing machine popped his ballon off with wobbuffet! the pokemon are chased in a hedge maze by the huge mowing machine. the pokemon threw the mowing machine into water, but it came back up, chasing them. they tried their attacks, but it would not work.
