A gore-happy "greatest horror hits" party disc, Boogeymen is a funky and somewhat baffling collection of contemporary horror movie madmen for the Scream generation. Seventeen serial killers and homicidal maniacs are represented in brief but complete scenes, from the classic (Psycho's Norman Bates and Michael Myers from Halloween) to the curious (unknown New Zealand thriller The Ugly) to the preposterous (Wishmaster, Leprechaun, and Corbin Bernsen as The Dentist). Skewed for the video-age horror buff, this is a survey for the children of Freddie Krueger and Jason Voorhees who like their thrillers thick with blood and body parts. Where this scream-a-thon shines is in its presentation: the slickly engineered interactive DVD features optional Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund commentary, playful pop-up "FlixFacts" trivia, trailers, quizzes, and bite-sized character bios, all accessed from snazzy, smooth, easy-to-navigate animated menus. --Sean Axmaker

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Horror geeks and newcomers alike.   July 21, 2008
Christopher Ockman (Hammond,LA)
Sometimes, I'm just in the mood to watch the best parts of my favorite scary movies, and this compiles them into one neat package. I don't have to take out all my DVDs just to watch the "good parts" of my favorite Horror films. Plus, there's a commentary by Robert Englund (Freddy). Even by himself, he keeps your interest.
If you're just getting in Horror, it gives you a little taste of some of the best.

It's just a few bucks, you can't really go wrong. If you hate it, you only lose about 4 bucks.

5 out of 5 stars why don't they make a line of action figures   February 5, 2006
so you're af fan of big time slashers also huh?sure you are,i know i am in fact i am a die hard fan of this dvd.clips from...hellraiser,a nightmare on elm st.,wishmaster, texas chainsaw massacre, scream,i know what you did last summer, child's play 2,leprechaun,the ugly, the dentist, phantasm, candyman, the gaurdian, the puppetmaster,psycho(1960),jason goes to hell:final friday, halloween, and jack frost2:revenge of the mutant killer snowman, anyway, you're probably also a fan of jack frost, and can't find it on scene selection, well in this case,go to special features,go to flixmix recomends, press the right button on the controller, jack frost will be highlighted, pick it and you watching jack frost do his magic.

5 out of 5 stars best compilation   December 16, 2005
this dvd includes exellent scenes from the horror genre such as 1.hellraiser 2.a nightmare on elm street 3.the texas chainsaw massacre 4.scream 5.child's play 2 6.candyman 7.leprachaun 8.the ugly 9.wishmaster(djinn) 10.the gaurdian 11.I know what you did last summer(by lois duncan)12.dentist 13.phantasm 14.puppetmaster 15.american psycho(1960) 16.final friday(f13) 17.halloween. plus a bonus scene from jack frost II,first to get the clip from jack frost2 you go to special features, then flix mix recommends, then push the right arrow(not left),then you will see jack frost highlighted, push enter/select then you have a clip from jack frost 2! but enough of that let us talk about how this all started, well when I was five me and my dad had rented jeepers creepers advertised on it was boogeymen,i was amazed, because when i was three i saw my first horror film.from then onward i knew i could not give up on flix like these. so i thought about it for 4 years and i finally saw it back on shelves at wal-mart packaged along with land of the dead,so i decided to use a couple of bucks out of my allowence.soi rushed my mom to wal-mart to by it, i have 2 favourite clips 9.wishmaster bonus.jack frost 2,cool huh? in other words i love this movie special features:name that frame game, animated trivia, audio commentary,dvd-rom features, theatrical trailers(preveiws),legends of the boogeymen.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad, but only something for horror fan's   December 16, 2004

First off I will say that this DVD is only for Horror movie fans. It is not a documentry, what it is a 50 minute long main presentation of the best horror movie icons. and it shows a quick intro of that charactor, then an actual scene of one of the films they where in, and then moves onto the next... there's ALMOST all the fav's of the horror genre....

- Jason Voorhees (Friday The 13th)
- Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm St)
- Michael Myers (Halloween)
- Chucky (Childs Play)
- Blade (Puppet Master)
- Leprochaun (Leprachaun)
- Leather Face (Texas Chainsaw Masacre)
- Fisherman (I know what you did last summer)
- Ghost (Scream)
- Candyman (Candy man)
- Norman Bates (Phycho)
- Simon Cartright (The Ugly)
- Pin Head (Hellraiser)

But they have forgotten about a few that I thought should have been included...

- Skeleton Zombie (Return Of The Living Dead 1 + 2)
- Ghoulies (Ghoulies)
- Carrie White (Carrie)
- Evil Dead (Evil Dead Trilogy Villians ect..)
- Critters (Critters)
- Wicked Witch (Wizard Of Oz)
- Crypt Keeper (Tales from the crypt)
- Michael Jackson (Moonwalker)

The extra features are an Audio Commentary by Robert England (Freddy Krueger) which isnt something you'll listen to again I dont think, and you get an on screen trivia option which disaplys bits of information about the movie as it's playing the clip, i'd recomend you turn the trivia on and listen to the commentary at the same time to kill 2 birds with one stone.

There is a trivia game that is not worth looking at, you press start and it shows a picture and you just have to select what movie it's from, but there is no point, you can anser as many as ya want, it doesnt lead you to anything!

There is a biography of each of the people from the feature presnatation.

and Trailers to a couple of the movies on the feature, but not all of them.

There's also a link for anyone with a DVD on there computer, and your usual subtitles, 5.1 surround ect....

Overall: like I said, if you like horror movies, then you might like this if you care to know a bit of information on the films that you probably already knew, other wise it's not worth much, just seeing scenes from films together on one DVD is ok, but not lastingly thrilling, the scenes they chose couldve been better, they have picked some lame scenes to show in some areas. It would be great to see all of these horror icons meet on the big screen in an ultimate horror icon battle royal, but with all the copyright hassel to do something like that, this is most likely the closet we will get to see all of them together on the one show. I would recomend you rent it before you decide if you want to buy it.
